What are we looking for?
We’re seeking 6-8 new member patient advocates who can use their experiences as patients, survivors, or carers, to support Evidence-Based Advocacy projects in Workgroup of European Cancer Patient Advocacy Networks (WECAN)
WECAN-EBA members will play a vital role in ensuring that our projects are in line with WECAN’s mission, effective and grounded in the latest scientific research.
Who are we looking for?
Members should be patient advocates or aspire to be one. They can be a cancer patient, survivors, or a carer of someone who was diagnosed with cancer. WECAN EBA members will need to have an understanding of public health or the healthcare sector. It is desirable to have an understanding of either:
- the patient advocacy scene
- the pharma world and/or funding requests
- research methodologies and methods
- reading or publishing peer-reviewed papers
What will members be doing?
We are seeking members who can commit to the WECAN EBA group for at least 6 months and can attend monthly meetings. During meetings, we’ll discuss EBA projects, and members:
- will contribute with knowledge, experience and constructive feedback to the projects
- help us identify gaps in patient education and resources, and suggest ways to address these gaps
What will members get in exchange for their time?
- Contribute to the future of impactful EBA projects and make sure that improvements to cancer services are led by the needs and perspectives of people with cancer
- Represent their patient organisation and build their professional network within the healthcare and patient advocacy community
- Meet patient advocates from all over the world and make a positive impact on patients’ lives
- Members’ contribution will be paid. Rates will depend on the activities being carried out
