Thank you for your interest in joining WECAN. Being a member of WECAN means opportunities to collaborate, to learn and to grow together in order to strengthen cancer patient advocacy in Europe.

Coordination and cooperation

Leaders of pan-European cancer patient umbrella organisations meet and discuss ideas and build consensus

Efficiency

Share information and workload across rare and common cancers to increase transparency and avoid duplication of effort.

Diversity and representativeness

A platform of the European cancer patient community where member organisations have equal weight in terms of voice, representation, and membership.

Fostering new advocates

Opportunities to involve and develop new cancer patient advocacy leaders and build capacity.

Become a Member

There is no fee to become a member of WECAN. Potential WECAN member organisations should meet the following criteria.

  • Umbrella organisation: Organisations must have members in their own patient organisation from at least 4 European countries with the intention or plan to expand representation across Europe.
  • Non-profit: Organisations must be registered as a non-profit entity in a European country or, if incorporated and/or registered outside of Europe, should have members from at least 4 European countries with the intention or plan to expand representation across Europe.
  • A focus on patients: The majority of members in the governing body of the organisation should ideally be cancer patients, carers, former carers, or close relatives of cancer patients.
